Realism fair Amsterdam
From 15-18 January new work will be on display and for sale at the realisme art fair for figurative and realistic art in Amsterdam.
The realisme is the only art fair in the Netherlands, and maybe even in the world, exclusively devoted to contemporary figurative and realistic art. With its history going back to the famous 17th century - the Golden Age of Rembrandt and Vermeer -, figurative and realistic art is very much rooted in the Netherlands and still immensely popular. At Realisme, 27 national and international galleries exhibit and sell works of art by Dutch and foreign artist. Realisme showcases artworks by renowned artists as well as by young artists who shed new light on figurative art.

When I went to a photo fair of young and upcoming photographers in Amsterdam, I got to see the work of Eli Dijkers. In between all the other pictures, there was one that touched me immediately – a portrait that I fell in love with. Although Eli Dijkers was not familiar with my work, he agreed on an interchange on art. He trusted me enough to give me the photograph and wait until I had sent my part of the trade.
